Disloyalty day, 2006

So, it seems our fearless leader has seen fit to declare May 1st Loyalty Day.

...

There's not really much one can say to that; it really speaks for itself.

That said, I for one do not feel much loyalty for our government. I mean, sure, the idea beind america is great, free speech, for the people by the people, but, let's be honest, how much of that is actually true?

So, that's why I'm singlehandedly and arbitrarily declaring May 8th "Disloyalty Day". On that day, show how much you're fed up with the difference between the ideals and reality in whatever (peaceful, hopefully not too illegal - we're against the government, not the citizens) ways you can. Burn flags, hold a protest march, write letters to your representatives, or just whine about it in your blog, whatever. Hopefully it'll cause some small semblance of change. And, if not, well, it feels good to flip off The Man, even if he doesn't really care.

(do I have an FBI file now, I wonder?)

Interestingly, the google feedfetcher cache can be accessed by other programs, and very easily. Simply URL-escape the true feed url, and tack http://www.google.com/reader/atom/feed/ onto the beginning. For example, http://www.google.com/reader/atom/feed/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.livejournal.com%2Fusers%2Fbdonlan%2Fdata%2Frss . The resulting feed will be cached and converted to Atom. Sites having trouble with RSS feed bandwidth usage might want to try this tactic ... Then again, who knows how google would feel about this being widely used.
